Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nationals of Sudan has been extended until November 2, 2011 by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). TPS is an immigration status that is granted to eligible nationals of a designated country who are temporarily unable to safely return to their home country because of an emergency situation, including armed conflict and environmental disaster.
TPS allows those qualifying nationals to live within the United States and obtain work authorization. Qualifying nationals must register with the USCIS to obtain TPS status and employment authorization.
